PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) has already planned the construction of the access roads needed to the high-speed train stations. One of them is constructing a new exit toll from the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road at KM 42, straight to the Karawang Station. The station will then be integrated into the Cikarang and Karawang Industrial Zones.
Karawang Station is approximately 19,028 m2 and has 2 platforms for passengers to get on and off the train. Later on, there will be 68 high-speed train schedules that will stop at Karawang Station to accommodate passengers that are traveling to Halim Station, Padalarang Hub Station, and Tegalluar Station. Passengers who get off at Karawang Station can use the DAMRI bus (an Indonesian state-owned bus) to continue their trip at Karawang.
The high-speed train stations are integrated with the Greater Jakarta LRT, BRT, and airport shuttle bus, which facilitate passengers’ transit without having to change stations. The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train itself is projected to operate in September 2023.
